I didn’t judge the second season of “Dexter” could even advance end to to the brilliance of the first season, but I was wicked. Instead of the Ice Truck Killer, Season 2 begins with the Miami P.D. hot on the go of another mass-murderer dubbed as the Bay Harbor Butcher. Dexter (Michael C. Hall) already knows the identity of the killer just off the bat, because it happens to be him. The FBI is brought in to wait on investigate the case, and Dexter is under pressure to quit off the radar and figure out how to fetch himself out of this great mess.

Season 2 introduces some gigantic unusual characters, including Special Agent Lundy (Keith Carradine) and the mysterious Lila (Jaime Murray), a woman who interferes with Dexter’s relationship with Rita (Julie Benz) . Meanwhile, La Guerta (Lauren Vélez) pulls some very dirty tricks out of her hat in an trouble to net her job serve, and Dexter’s relationship with Doakes (Erik King) escalates and is finally assign to the ultimate test.

There are some interesting twists and turns in Season 2, but everything wraps up very nicely at the waste. I have no conception what will happen to Dexter in Season 3, but I can’t wait to secure out!

Miami blood-spatter analyst and moonlighting serial killer Dexter Morgan spent the first season of Showtime’s groundbreaking drama helping his police department track the Ice Truck Killer, a man who turned out to be the brother Dexter never knew. In Season Two, he helps hunt someone even closer…himself. When his Glad-bag graveyard is discovered at the bottom of the ocean, all of Miami buzzes about the Bay Harbor Butcher, the nocturnal crime fighter who litters the sea with body parts of poor guys.

The search for the Bay Harbor Butcher (and the ensuing cat and mouse game between Dexter and his colleagues) provides the overarching glue for Season Two. The middle episodes of the season feature the slippery Dexter trying to wiggle his diagram out of the seize of the investigation, lead by modern character FBI Special Agent Lundy (Keith Carradine), a professional everyman as unassuming as he is gleaming. Lundy’s dedication and focus rival Dexter’s and explain a challenge for our hero even greater than his “game” with the Ice Truck Killer. Lundy’s ritual and disciplined life of cucumber sandwich lunches and Chopin interludes clears his mind, giving him almost clairvoyance into the heart of his target.

The second principle residence centers on Dexter’s current fancy interest, Lila. Early in the season, Dexter is able to justify away his erratic behavior to Doakes and Rita by pretending to be a recovering drug addict. His relationship with his sultry and insightful sponsor sparks tension between Dexter and his girlfriend and forces Dexter into chambers of his mind that have been closed for decades. In the arms of a alarmed figure with a past nearly as shaded as his acquire, Dexter feels understood for the first time.

Dexter’s “improvements” in rehab, coupled with the relentless investigation of him by Doakes causes a reduction in body count for Season Two. Objective as Season One established the winning formula of building a 12 episode serial dwelling accentuated with weekly self contained subplots with payoffs, Season Two also has runt stories to maintain the viewers entertained as the search for the Butcher continues. The dissimilarity between Seasons One and Two is that these exiguous plots don’t always involve Dexter killing someone. Season One almost had a reality-tv consistency with Dexter “voting someone off the island” each week. But sometimes Season Two episode plots are about his relationships with Rita, Lila or Doakes.

This is portion of the more human Dexter presented in Season Two. His conscience gets to him a few times; he underestimates one of his victim’s strength and then walks into a trap; he routinely gets outsmarted by Lundy; and he’s unable to control his feelings toward Rita and her kids. He’s reach a long draw from the unemotional science project of the first season. The extra dimensions to his character and a season-long area that amazingly trumps the edge-of-your-seat predicament of Season One’s Ice Truck Killer are only two reasons why the series has improved since its sublime debut season and now fills the void left by The Sopranos as television’s finest hour.

Sequels weak to be about remaking the same film again and again (remember “Friday The 13th” or “Nightmare on Elm Street”? ) with minor variations so the audience gets their fix. John Carpenter, Kurt Russell and Debra Hill inverted the paradigmn reprising the best elements from “Race from Modern York” while introducing a heavy dose of satire aimed squarely at the Accurate Majority and groups of that nature. While not as memorable as that film, “Rush from L. A.” takes perfect aim at liberal Hollywood, the conservative religious accurate, sequels and skewers them all slow on most of the time.

Snake Plissken is support in pains. Captured again he’s effect into the service of national security against his will. It seems a blueprint that can detonate orbital nuclear devices has been stolen by the President’s daughter and delivered into the hands of a self styled rebel leader named Cuervo Jones (George Corraface) in what’s left of Southern California. Cuervo plans on using this way against the United States. Plissken is sent to the island of Los Angeles to retreive the draw. Yes, folks the Large ONE finally hit and a mountainous fragment of the Los Angeles basin dropped into the ocean like a ten ton weight while the remainder floats off the skim of the United States making the perfect situation to deport people who don’t have high accurate fiber or generally tick off the President for life (Cliff Robertson in a bent performance) . Infected by a deadly designer virus that makes Ebola seem like the flu, Snake has no choice but to select the job of retrieving. Malloy (Stacy Keach stepping in for the tedious Lee Van Cleef) and Brazen (the dazzling Michelle Forbes behind of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “Homicide: Life on the Streets” and the second season of “24″) provide Snake with his only link to the outside world.

Along the arrangement Snake meets surfers (Peter Fonda), the Surgeon General of Beverly Hills (Bruce Campbell in a hilarious role that truly is the highlight of the movie) in pursuit of the plot. Oh and once again Snake has one of those stout digital watches attached to his wrist to remind him his days are numbered if he doesn’t acquire the way benefit in time. Filled with gigantic cameos by Steve Buscemi (as Procedure to the Stars Eddie), B-movie queen Pam Grier (as Hershe Las Palmas), Italian beauty Valerie Golino, the leisurely Paul Bartel, Issac Hayes (in a cameo) and Robert Carradine “Race from L.A.” unbiased might be Carpenter’s most undervalued film (along with the vast satire “They Live”) .

The weakest link in the film turns out to be the uneven visual effects done by Disney’s Buena Vista Visual Effects. Some of the opticals peek titanic particularly the scenes where Los Angeles gets hit by the 9.6 earthquake. The sequences titillating the mini-sub and some of the helicopters peer as if they were taken from computer games. While computer graphics were smooth developing at the time, I’m surprised that Disney’s effects house wasn’t able to approach up with more convincing visuals for this sequence. Mild, while they aren’t what they could be they’re not the focus of the tale either and are a splendid minor scrape. Many of the best effects work quite well. The production invent by Lawrence G. Paull (”Blade Runner”, “Help to the Future”, “Predator 2″) gives the film a powerful bigger observe than the budget the film had (it cost roughly $50 million to fabricate including the marketing share of the budget) . A bit of trivia about the film. Russell appears wearing the same costume he had for the first film at the beginning. Russell also made all the basketball shots seen in the climatic game himself.

Presented in its modern widescreen format with a trailer as the only extra, this was released when Paramount was playing rep up in releasing product for the DVD market. The image quality is exceptionally splendid with colossal color reproduction and a nearly flawless print (particularly when compared to the remastered re-release of “Race from Novel York”) with a nice 5.1 sound mix.

It’s too abominable this hasn’t been reissued with extras (such as a commentary from Carpenter and Russell and one or two featurettes. Heck, there’s got to be a promo allotment somewhere in Paramount’s vault about this as I seem to remember one being released to promote it) because, while isn’t quite up to “Run from Novel York”, “Sprint from L.A.” is smooth a memorable sequel with enough satire, parody and humor laced moments to withhold fans of the current joyful. Hopefully one of these days this minor Carpenter classic will find the re-evaluation it deserves.

When I first saw this film in the theaters, I really didn’t like it. In fact, I was fair let down! I had grown up with Race From Original York, and to my apprehension, John Carpenter remade his believe film! I’m not kidding, REMADE it. Proper down to Snake getting shot in the leg and limping for the last half of the film. Years later I revaluated my idea. You can’t manufacture a film as corny as this on accident, especially if you’re a primitive director like John Carpenter; It had to be done on purpose. I’ve read numerous interviews over the years and have found out two things, and I assume these two things are the reason this film ended up the procedure it did. First, John Carpenter hates sequels. He never wanted to design sequels to his films. He never wanted a sequel to Halloween(let alone six! That’s why he produced Halloween 3 which people hated so distinguished, coz he was trying to buy this series in a different direction and not retread the whole Michael Myers thing) . I also understand that both Carpenter and Kurt Russell were under alot of studio pressure to accomplish this film. I don’t know what kind of favor Carpenter owed the studio, but he made this film. And my theory is that he made this film intentionally unpleasant to say to the studio, “There, I made the stinking sequel you wanted, don’t ask me to do it again!” I mean really, if he had wanted to fabricate a sequel to Speed From Unique York, don’t you contemplate he would have struck while the iron was hot and made it at the height of the first film’s success instead of waiting 15 years? Deem about it. When I think this scenario, I can scrutinize Rush From L.A and have a satisfactory laugh thinking that John Carpenter may have played a tall joke on the Hollywood studios. Really, there’s no map Carpenter included that surfing scene with the arrangement of it being taken seriously. The film is unbiased intention too overblown, plan too cheesy and obviously a carbon copy of the unusual to be anything other than a joke. Kurt may be older now, but he’s actually smooth able to play Snake Plissken like it’s 1980. The performance is mammoth, it’s unprejudiced the film surrounding Kurt that’s humorous. Try watching it again and gawk what you contemplate.

It’s poor in the crude that the First World War has largely fallen by the wayside. If we hear anything about the conflict at all, it’s usually on the History Channel or another network airing a documentary burly of grainy, shadowy and white clips of men stumbling over the top of trenches. Interest in historical events tends to plunge off significantly when those eager pass away, and in the case of the generation that fought this horrific war not only have they exited the stage, they have left the building as well. I developed a life long interest in “the war to extinguish all wars” after seeing Peter Weir’s 1981 film “Gallipoli” in a shrimp, rush down art house theater at the age of ten. I didn’t understand the historical context at the time, but this dramatic interpretation of events that unfolded in the Dardanelles during 1915 left a lasting impression on my impressionable mind. I recently rewatched the film and can say that it tranquil works as an intense drama and as a serious antiwar statement. Weir’s overt hostility toward the British commanders at Gallipoli, however, doesn’t stand up as well. By the contrivance, this is one of the films that propelled Mel Gibson to international stardom.

Weir decided to focus his film not on the massive armies battling away in Europe, but on two individuals living in Australia. Archy Hamilton (Effect Lee) and Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) are two of the fastest runners in the country. Hamilton trains with his demanding grandfather, who promises the young lad that if he works hard he may yet go down as the next national sports hero. Frank, on the other hand, wanders around the country with a few buddies taking any job he can score and generally impartial having a lot of fun. News of the escalating war in Europe is vague and distant, referenced only when someone brings up a news record they saw in the paper. Archy wants to go and fight, attracted by the lure of glory that has suckered millions of young people since the dawn of time into wretchedness. Frank doesn’t assume of war as glory, and when his pals bring up the concept of enlisting he quietly makes his residence known. Both of these young men’s lives are forever changed after the destroy up competing against each other in a foot accelerate at a regional blooming. Archy barely wins, but a friendship develops between the two that soon finds Frank tagging along when Archy decides to enlist in the eminent cavalry. Frank agrees to join with Archy, once he discovers that the ladies savor a soldier, but goes into the infantry after failing to qualify for the light horse unit.

It really doesn’t matter anyway since horses won’t perform a bit of inequity when the ANZAC (Australian and Fresh Zealand Army Corps) soldiers head first to Egypt and then the Dardanelles for combat against the Ottoman Turks. What the war exertion needs are bodies worthy of running headlong into a withering wall of machine gun fire, and cavalry troops minus their steeds will work in this capacity unbiased as well as infantrymen. Before they come the killing fields, Archy and Frank reunite during a training expend in Egypt. Hamilton convinces his commander to enlist Dunne in the cavalry, claiming that his skills as a runner rival his possess and that both men will build a major contribution to the regiment. Weir shows us plenty of carefully crafted scenes of the men having a first-rate time in Cairo, of the deepening camaraderie taking state even as the war looms larger and larger in the background. The movie takes a doom and gloom turn as the ANZAC forces land at Gallipoli to catch piece in the fighting. Casualties mount as attacks designed to expand the beachhead fail under Turkish machine guns. Soon, Archy and Frank know they will have to go over the top too, and realize they will certainly perish in the process. The conclusion to “Gallipoli” is one of the most emotionally grinding, soul shattering denouements in motion characterize history.

The only thing I found extremely irritating about “Gallipoli” is the cheesy synth musical acquire, which now sounds so early 1980s that it dates the represent terribly. I deem the message about how people join up to go to war for all the detestable reasons, however, is aloof highly relevant. And if there was any war that everyone should have avoided, it was World War I. Generals and leaders mild subscribed to antiquated notions of warfare, never taking into record machine guns, poison gas, and airplanes would decimate the troops. The fatalities were truly appalling, with millions perishing in muddy trenches during the four year conflict. Weir expertly depicts the squalid conditions of the trenches, but he goes too far blaming the film’s fatal charge on the British commanders. First of all, far more British soldiers died during the campaign in the Dardanelles than did members of ANZAC. Second, why spot the onus for the war on the British? Plenty of commanders on all sides made mistake after mistake in this conflagration, mistakes that resulted in so many fatalities that it’s a wonder humanity didn’t rise up and cast their leaders into the fire.

“Gallipoli” wins the day in the demolish thanks to the charm of Label Lee and Mel Gibson. Weir’s cinematography sinks its claws in as well. Check out the shots of the Australian outback, the Red Unfavorable party, and the landing at Gallipoli to learn why. The transfer looks reliable, but the only extra on the disc is a short interview with Weir about the making of the film. I wanted a commentary track for this film desperately, and calm hope a special edition will approach on the market in the come future. If you haven’t seen “Gallipoli,” check it out soon.

There’s been a few things said about this movie, several reviewers mentioned that it was slow-moving, and another pointed out with exasperating pedantry the historical inaccuracies, but I’d like to say that I consider ‘Gallipoli’ is a beneficial movie. It was well shot and well acted, the characters were right and believeable, the procure was magnificient, the sage was bewitching, and although the script had less action than, say, ‘Saving Private Ryan’ it also wasn’t wasteful – one wouldn’t have cared about the people if one didn’t know them.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Gallipoli! Click Here

Which is also the point. If `Gallipoli’ wasn’t historically suitable, and it’s tough to picture a yearlong legend in an hour and a half, one does gain the point. Which, of course, is that wars, especially this one, and especially this battle, are boring, self-serving and pointlessly destructive endeavors.

I’m dumbfounded by the reviewer who chose to lambaste the portrayal of the British officers in the campaign. I’m surprised an Aussie would say that, but then again there’re plenty of Yanks who’ll second guess Harry S Truman from now till the waste of time, so who am I to think. While I’m the first to admit that those words were probably not said, I have to maintain that the blue blood of the capital officers taught them not to give a damn about the sweat and blood of some terrible sons-of-criminals from a lost colony. I’m not alone, and I quote from John Merriman’s History of Fresh Europe, p1059, “Other [historians] agree with most contemporaries who believed that [Gallipoli] was a needless diversion dictated by British colonial interests in the Middle East and for which Australian and Modern Zealander troops paid a disproportionate ticket.”

The aristocratic attitude of the officers in the Vast War was the single thing that caused the casualty rates The well-bred officers didn’t care that they were sending men with bolt-action rifles against entrenched machine guns because they were unprejudiced peasants (or Australians) anyway. That is the historical truth, and I for one like how it came out in the training sequence as well as the battle sequences of this movie. It belongs in the collection of anybody who doesn’t want to go to war.

I highly anticipated the return of Supernatural after the cliff hanger we were left with on Season Three. So far [there's unexcited a couple more episodes of season four which have yet to air] this season has not been disappointing. From the beginning, with Dean escaping from Hell, to this raging war between the angels and demons, this is one action packed adventure and thrilling travel to be on. I have watched this explain from it’s debut, and it unprejudiced keeps getting better. I don’t want to exclaim too remarkable information for those who read this and have not watched SPN, and I also can’t comment as remarkable as I’d like because the season has not yet finished. However, I couldn’t wait ’til it’s completion to acquire out a review for it, and I have definitely save this box area on Alert so that I know immediately when it’s released this Drop [more than likely]. I can’t wait to have these episodes on DVD to rewatch and relive. I highly recommend this display to anyone; this season stands so far to be the best of SPN yet.

Just wanted to add to my review quick: a lot of people seem to be wishing for a Supernatural soundtrack. Here are 2 awesome sites that will give you a list of songs played in every episode from Season One to Season Four. So obtain to downloading and making a SPN playlist of your gain! :)

Edit: I’m so sorry; every time I do the URLs in for the sites, Amazon doesn’t expose them.. I’m going to try putting them into a comment for this review so check there if you’re keen!

Supernatural, season 4 makes up for the 17 episodes of season 3 (thanks WGA people!) with a corpulent 22 episode race. This is a rare gem of a present where I gather myself rewatching a season every 3-4 months (never, ever plain) . Seriously, this reveal has become something of a religion and has re-introduced me to classic, used school rock from the likes of AC/DC & Colossal Funk Railroad.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Supernatural: The Complete Fourth Season! Click Here

Outstanding episodes here include: In The Beginning (where we peruse a smoking hot actress called Amy Gumenick as a young Mary Winchester) ; Metamorphosis; After School Special; Jump The Shark (which was Eric Kripke’s in-joke about Chad Michael Murray being a third Winchester brother and introduces us to a fresh foe) ; The Rapture; Family Remains (unusually news topical) and saving the best for last: Yellow Fever, where at the very kill, we have Dean Winchester doing his rendition of Survivor’s “View of the Tiger” – beget me, you will witness that scene again and again! It’s no wonder youtube rep so many hits on it everyday and proves 80s rock DOES ROCK!!

On a sunless impress, this series marked the passing away of Kim Manners, who was very powerful a creative force in terms of direction, the overall view and feel of the expose. We miss you, buddy – RIP.

As per usual, Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles are outstanding as Sam & Dean Winchester. Jensen is very great the Han Solo character who gets to quip funnier lines and pop culture references throughout; whilst terrible dilapidated Jared has cranked up the emotional steering wheel 3 notches and is a revelation in the process. Fans of Heroes often do the Hiro scrunchy face when he time travels, but for me, I always do the Sam stretching-his-hand-out-before-extracting-a-demon-from-its-host routine. Before long, everyone will be copying it! These two actors have a chemistry I haven’t seen since Niles & Frasier Crane. Also have to say kudos to Misha Collins as Cassiel, whom I really got passe to, even if he does annoy Dean most of the time!

Whilst watching Shatner & Nimoy in Mind Meld, it was tremendous seeing these legends of camouflage & TV, discussing their fond memories on Star Trot and personal lives. I hope that one day, we’ll catch Jensen & Jared doing the same about Supernatural.

PS: Don’t be frustrated about the final scene of Lucifer Rising – Eric Kripke is genius personified and trust that he knows what he’s doing – especially if season five is going to be the last. It’s a classic cliffhanger, but the guessing game is on for what hell Lucifer will unleash! Forget girly rubbish like Twilight and stick to the steady deal that is Supernatural!

Although the precise DVD space isn’t out as of the time I write this, the 4th season finished airing months ago and now since they have the page for pre-order up, I’ve been kinda itching to write a review.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stargate Atlantis – The Complete Fourth Season! Click Here

Well as this season starts off from the 3rd season cliffhanger, it is definately off to an awesome commence. Atlantis lost, adrift in state and running out of power. To conserve energy, they shrink the shield down to a exiguous part of the city and then what happens? …Atlantis runs into an asteroid belt! Then to catch more power, they actually raid the Asuran homeworld for ZPM’s using Dr. Weir! A very inspiring beginning.

While the majority of episodes are hits, such as the episode where a disease causes everyone to lose their memories(Tabula Rasa) or the one where Teal’c comes for a visit(Midway) ; there are some that drop short of their potential for giving more or are unbiased humdrum lifeless! For example: the end-season cliffhanger! This is the first time I’ve ever been disappointed with an Atlantis cliffhanger, not leaving me anxiously inviting to glimpse how they accept out of that spot, waiting for the next season. It ends with Sheppard and his team searching a building for Teyla, but it self-destructs and collapses in on them. (Zzzzzz…you know they survive it) A better intention to waste the season would have been to leave Sheppard stranded 48,000 years in the future, revealing more about what happened in the galaxy in all that time and trying to figure out a blueprint to glean support home with the McKay hologram’s new thought failing to work! Now that sounds like one hell of a cliffhanger!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stargate Atlantis – The Complete Fourth Season! Click Here

I reviewed season 3 as well, saying it gives potential for an awesome season 4. Does it live up to that potential? It comes end, but unfortunately no it doesn’t. Why? It honest seems like the shows creators/writers aren’t willing to go all the map in some of the episode’s stories. For that matter, I can’t figure out what direction the display is headed in anymore; can you? (I recall the expose IS going in some direction)

At least this time around they gave more attention to the Wraith and to Teyla. The whole narrative arc with the Athosian people being kidnapped and Teyla’s search for them, both expanded, and renewed some interest, in her character. In my season 3 review I also stated my celebrated character is McKay, but even I am starting to pick up tired of seeing him so powerful in every episode.

Dr. Weir was officially lost this season, then killed, then…kinda came support? But fortunately we regained some dilapidated faces. Dr. Beckett (or at least a clone) came help at an extinguish of the season episode. And while I liked having Samantha Carter as the Atlantis commander, unbiased like Dr. Weir in season 3, they didn’t spend her character enough!

Which leads us to season 5. SPOILERS AHEAD! I’ve read various sources about what season 5 of Atlantis will have instore for us fans & veiwers, and most have been confirmed. The biggy for me being that Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) will NOT be assist as Atlantis’ commander. (Due to the fact she’ll be staring in her bear demonstrate, “Sanctuary”.) But she will arrive help for some guest appearances. Who’s replacing her? Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo)! I have completely mixed feelings about his character, but he definately doesn’t have what it takes to sigh Atlantis! So unless he grows a pair and proves himself as something other than a cowering beaurocrat, this alone makes me unsafe about season 5 as well as the future of the prove. Dr. Beckett and Dr. Daniel Jackson will guest star in some episodes, as well as 2 fresh characters and an entirely novel hasten being introduced.

Don’t procure me defective, I unexcited really like Atlantis and am going to accept the season 4 DVD once it’s released, but I must say this is the first time I am unsafe about how the next season will remove shape, or if it will even be any trustworthy? Let’s unprejudiced hope season 5 will point to me wicked!

The season 4 DVD location itself will have the usual: commentaries, deleted scenes, etc. However, this will be the first Atlantis season DVD that will have a bloopers reel.

**UPDATE: Well, Season 4 came out today, I’ve got it and am watching it true now. Physical DVD-wise, the video and sound is peaceful enormous like seasons 2 & 3. Packaging is the same as well. The menus are different from seasons 2 & 3 DVD’s, but are tranquil cool-looking and are easy to navigate. (You don’t have to go through a lot of submenus to gather what you are looking for.) Hope this latest info helps anyone!

Surprisingly, season 4 of Stargate Atlantis is better than season 3–it is unprejudiced about on par with season 2. Most of the storylines are decent, with some very luscious ones; even with the mostly annoying characters, this season is tolerable.

Lt. Col. John Sheppard has deviated from his Jack O’Neill Jr. behavior, now becoming a standard yet spineless character; when faced with most women, he’s still and weak-willed, barely standing up for himself–unlike his decisive attitude around men. Col. Samantha Carter, taking the situation of Dr. Weir, is a friendly and strong leader–at times, she is the only one to affirm up for the legal course of action. Dr. Rodney McKay, barely changing in the slightest, remains arrogant and smug; however, Carter can sometimes shut him up with a well-placed comment, which is quite satisfying. Teyla, although the victim of a sometimes pathetic area twist, is very faintly better than she was in season 3, sometimes offering up Athosian wisdom for those in need. Ronon is, in my concept, the best character in the show: he is on occasion the only person with celebrated sense, and also tells it exactly like it is.

As for the episodes:

Adrift–5 of 10–We win up where we left off in season 3, with the city floating in state and losing power. The whole of this episode is spent on creating and solving predicament upon problem: an asteroid belt threatens the city, as well as badly damaged power conduits and loss of shield protection. This goes on until it ends in a very unsatisfactory manner. I couldn’t relieve but contemplate that a better solution could have been found to the main, crippling quandary of this episode.

Lifeline–7 of 10–Even with the awful ending of `Adrift’, this episode finishes things up very nicely, with a brave mission and courageous assist from the wounded Dr. Weir. Rodney of course discovers something else that they could try to do while going through with their current mission; I expected things to go from unpleasant to worse and their plans to fail, but thankfully everything went well, with the city actually surviving somewhat unscathed. This is a superior ending to a abominable plight.

Reunion–8 of 10–Ronon stumbles upon three of his friends from Sateda (his home planet) and wonders whether he should leave Atlantis to discontinue with them. The Satedans are actually slightly dislikeable, being somewhat boorish and rough around the edges; they influence Ronon far too remarkable at times, but they have an unpredictable secret that almost dooms Ronon. As with mostly all episodes focusing on Ronon, this is enjoyable–although it features some very queer fight scenes…

Doppelganger–4 of 10–Sheppard touches a crystalline object on an alien planet and soon appears in everyone’s nightmares. The opinion slow this episode is interesting; but throughout it, I was laughing! Unintentionally, it becomes more of a dusky comedy instead of horrific and absorbing. Something about Sheppard being the villain in each and every nightmare is actually quite comical.

Travelers–3 of 10–Sheppard is captured by a weird ship and tries to flee while dealing with the ship’s stereotypically pleasing commander. This episode might actually outdo season 2’s `Grace Under Pressure’ in terms of being annoying. Larrin, the commander, is anything but military, even though she lives on her tattered ship; her hair is long and flowing, she wears tight shaded leather, and she saunters through the corridors like a fashion model. When she gets what she wants, her attitude is predictably smug–when she doesn’t salvage what she wants, she becomes pugnacious and petulant, at one point stomping her foot and hollering like a twelve-year-old. All in all, this is useless.

Tabula Rasa–9 of 10–In an amazingly genuine and arresting episode, Rodney finds himself tied to his desk, with almost total memory loss, and odd instructions from a recording of himself. The explanation of the memory loss is logical and understandable; the adventures ensuing are curious and mysterious; the flashbacks to hours earlier are nice and enlightening; and it all serves to originate an episode I heartily enjoyed!

Missing–6 of 10–Teyla and Keller, traveling to employ a day at the fresh Athosian settlement, gather that the people are missing; they encounter the unpleasant Bola Kai tribesmen wandering the planet and must cloak for apprehension of assume and death. In this episode, Keller at last shows her mettle–after whimpering and moaning for most of the time, she finds her inner courage and faces a perilous enemy. The largest jam with the episode, though, is that in all other season 3 and 4 episodes, I saw no mention of the Athosians being relocated to another planet. I have no plan when they got there!

The Seer–8 of 10–Still searching for the Athosians, Teyla seeks out a celebrated seer–the leader of a group of people on another planet–and finds that he knows worthy about Atlantis’ future. Although the seer himself doesn’t have noteworthy to do, his visions predict quite a bit of anxiety for Atlantis; meanwhile, the team finds themselves inextricably linked with the Wraith in order to fight the Replicators. With the amount of adventures involved–and the very miniature amount of mistakes made–this episode is very satisfactory.

Miller’s Crossing–5 of 10–Rodney’s sister Jeannie is kidnapped and, in searching for her, Rodney stumbles into a trap. This episode gives Rodney and Jeannie a chance to argue and sulk, which they are both quite respectable at. Unbiased as in season 3’s `McKay and Mrs. Miller’, the premise itself is not very sound; the decisions that Rodney, Jeannie, and even their kidnapper beget are foolish; as a plus, Jeannie decides to call Rodney by his precise name, Meredith, through the entire episode–even though he has already told her that he goes by the name of Rodney. Like before, this is rather worthless.

This Mortal Coil–9 of 10–After a exclusive drone from an unknown source crashes into the city, the denizens of Atlantis slowly commence to realize that there’s something fresh going on. At the beginning, this episode is a game of `what’s wicked with this report? ‘ Once the truth is finally known–shocking not only the team, but myself as well–the team must work to avert danger and provide encourage…but those who need befriend are the most unlikely of people!

Be All My Sins Remember’d–7 of 10–Since the Replicators are attacking more and more planets, the team decides to determine things once and for all. Larrin, clichéd commander of the Traveler warship, gets an appearance; when Sheppard comes to her–virtually groveling for her befriend instead of candidly asking for it–she decides to tie him to a chair (apparently a running gag) . What’s nice is that Col. Ellis, commander of the Apollo, finally manages to give Rodney a allotment of his mind before they all go off to fight the Replicators. In the raze, though a original and frightful enemy is revealed to us in the audience, although the team knows nothing of them.

Spoils of War–7 of 10–The team, led by a signal from Todd’s subspace tracking blueprint, stumbles on a top secret Wraith outpost, where they will accept many threats. Teyla finally gets a chance to serve out, with as distinguished courage as ever, while Sheppard, Rodney, and Ronon contemplate the facility. A Wraith queen is spotlighted and gets to relate and spit in the usual over-the-top manner. Although this episode is contrived in spots, it collected is somewhat decent.

Quarantine–6 of 10–After the city mistakenly quarantines itself, many of the main characters score themselves trapped together, giving them a chance to learn more about each other. We bag that Dr. Zelenka raises pigeons; Dr. Keller graduated from college at age 15; and other assorted miniature tidbits. Rodney is of course featured prominently in this episode, as he is in almost all of them. The extremely valid piece about this episode is that Dr. Zelenka finally gets a chance to do something advantageous for the entire city. Otherwise, it’s the usual, mediocre at best.

Harmony–4 of 10–Sheppard and Rodney agree to shepherd a young princess on a rite of passage; in a reverse of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s `The Dauphin’, the girl–who bears the Earth name Harmony–develops a crush on Sheppard. This results in her acting somewhat like The Lord of the Rings’ Gollum, pretending to bellow in Sheppard’s arms while smirking at Rodney instead. She is the classic spoiled-brat child, not caring whether Sheppard or Rodney survive their mission, and explaining her actions with the words “I’m the queen!” Throughout most of the episode, I could seek all the major events coming easily. This is a light, very faintly comedic episode that is worth seeing only once.

Outcast–6 of 10–Sheppard’s father dies and he comes home to Earth for the funeral, but then finds himself in considerable deeper peril than he expected. His polished brother wears a cherish suit and has perfectly coiffed hair; his ex-wife, even with her nightclub-style outfit, works implausibly for the Department of Homeland Security; strangely, Sheppard finds himself at a complete loss for words every time he encounters either of them. Otherwise, the main storyline–featuring Replicators, as well as an unexpected appearance by a worn supporting character from season 1–is decent at the very least. Of course, there are some myth points that I can spy coming…but then again, that’s honest for almost all the episodes.

Trio–8 of 10–Carter, Rodney, and Keller are trapped in a aged Genii mine that is racked by tremors. Thankfully, Rodney doesn’t accept to explain considerable of his very annoying tendencies in this episode, although contributing an plan on how to escape; Carter and Keller also do their separate parts, trying to net out before the tremors ruin the mine. While this is the standard `a predicament arises, and most attempts to solve it fail miserably’ episode, it manages to be enchanting because of the interaction between the three characters. All three of them explain themselves by contrivance of valorous actions.

Midway–10 of 10–With Ronon about to be evaluated by the IOA, Carter decides that Teal’c could order the Satedan worthy. However, when times grow tough, Ronon and Teal’c must work together to effect Earth. This is by far the best episode of season 4, featuring a profitable crossover and frightful problems. There is a sizable (and regrettably short) fight scene between Ronon and Teal’c, featuring Chuck the gate technician taking bets on who will collect. Even with the tribulations, the two warriors work well together; however, in the meantime, Sheppard and Rodney net themselves in equal wretchedness. I cherish this episode not only because of Teal’c, but also because of the provocative and plausible dilemma. If only every Atlantis episode had the extraordinary writing this one does!

The Kindred, Piece 1–6 of 10–In a slightly spicy decline from `Midway’, Teyla finds herself having visions of Kanaan, the father of her child, and feels that she must search at a positive village. In the meantime, a sudden plague is sweeping through the galaxy. Almost everything in this episode results in disaster; Teyla–while searching for her people–is captured, and Sheppard and the other team members secure that a familiar and annoying villain is late the plague. Todd, the jolly Wraith, gives them shrimp wait on and asks for it in return, but in the kill his information does them no noble. The very last moment of the episode features a surprising return from a much-beloved character…

The Kindred, Piece 2–7 of 10–While Teyla finds her people again, Sheppard and friends try to score her with the benefit of the newly returned character (whose identity I will not jabber) . That person has quite a few health problems, which lessen his/her ability to help; in the meantime, Teyla learns more about the experiments being performed on some of her people. In the demolish, information is gathered and the Athosians are rescued, but Teyla remains a prisoner. Even though the villain in this two-part episode now has the usual mad-scientist qualities, this episode is far from awful. The kill is tragic as the returned character takes his/her leave from his/her friends. Not abominable!

The Last Man–7 of 10–Sheppard comes through the gate and finds that he’s been sent 48,000 years in the future; naturally, Rodney–once Sheppard went missing–came up with a hologram of himself that is programmed to back Sheppard in any plan possible. Most of the episode is taken up by reminisces of events taking area after Sheppard vanished–there are many things that go imperfect, such as Michael predictably trying to capture over the galaxy. While Sheppard tries to net a draw out of the future, the hologram of older Rodney tells him stories of Ronon, Carter, Teyla, Keller and Rodney himself too. This episode is favorable because of its similarities to the Star Trek: Voyager series finale, but unfortunately the ending is rushed.

How could a movie fanatic go irascible with this one? Sidney Pollack directing, with Francis Ford Coppola helping out with the adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play? A stout cast, with especially memorable performances from Natalie Wood, Kate Reid and Mary Badham (as younger sister, Willie Starr)? Roberts Redford and Blake and Charles Bronson thrown in for lagniappe? Sounds like tall gumbo to me.

Natalie Wood is absolutely alluring in this one. She and Redford, who also teamed together in the memorable INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, did indeed appear to have a lot of shroud chemistry. He is the cynical company man who appears like the Grim Reaper in a miniature, shabby, depression-era southern town, carrying pink slips with him, instead of a scythe. The role has a lot of resonance now, what with all the corporate downsizing currently going on. Needless to say, the townfolk don’t powerful cotton to Mr Owen Legate, with his adore suit and self-assured ways.

With a couple valuable exceptions. Tom boyish Willie Starr is taken by him moral away and the petite her tremendous sister Alma sets eyes on him, she’s putty. Wood’s expression in that initial glimpse is section of film history.

Owen further antagonizes the townfolk because they look that Alma has taken a shine to an outsider. Alma’s been something of a tramp up this point, givining it up to varying degrees to most of the men in the town. Several of them, including an obsolete geezer with an invilid wife, have been fantazising about further adventures with Alma. And Alma’s mother is upset with Owen, because she sees that he is going to catch away her gravy insist. Hazel Starr is one of Williams’ vast eccentric female characters, and perhaps his most unctuous (though Amanda Wingfield, in THE GLASS MENAGERIE, is no prize, either. Kate Reid is perfect in the role. This, to me is her most memorable performance, followed closely by her title role in AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A Miniature, which unfortunatley appears to be impossible to get. It’s hard to own she never won an Oscar or a Tony.

This was only the second feature film that Pollock directed. He of course went on to large things with such films as THEY SHOOT HORSES DON’T THEY and TOOTSIE. He and Cinematographer James Wong Howe do a gigantic job of capturing slight southern town lethargy, as well as 30’s Fresh Orleans ambience. The print, unfortunately, could definitely spend a fleshy restoration. It’s extinct noticeably over time. The film certainly warrants the extra work. Yet time cannot wither Natalie Wood. She’s peaceful one of the most fine women a camera ever made worship to. This film definitely belongs arrive the top of the list for shroud adaptations of Williams’ plays.

BEK

When I first saw this film, as a preteen, I opinion it was the ultimate romance. Well, I got older … and saw it again. And it’s level-headed splendid romantic. In fact, it’s composed a film I witness over and over.

The performances are really juicy. Everyone in it seems to understand the over-the-top quality of Tennessee Williams, and no one disappoints. You’ll fetch Charles Bronson and a very young Robert Blake in supporting roles here. Both Kate Reid, as Wood’s driving, ambitious `Mama’ using her ravishing daughter to hook the town’s men, and Mary Badham, as `Willie’, the not-so-beautiful younger sister who idolizes Wood, are quite simply capable. Every recede, every explore from both are truly sublime.

Natalie Wood has always been one of my approved stars, and she is every dawdle the star in this one. It’s determined from her first closeup how special, how different, and how attractive Alva Starr is to everyone she comes in contact with. She meets her match in Robert Redford, the man who has no dreams, who sees her in unvarnished dim and white but comes to indulge in her need to color life … in fact, realizes he can’t live without it when he’s separated from her.

Is it expansive drama? No. But it’s aesthetic soap opera. The best soap opera, the most memorable Southern soap opera, you’re likely to bag. These people have staunch problems, precise needs, and they’re beautifully drawn by the screenwriters (thank you, Francis Coppola, among others) and by the actors who play them. We’re given a lot of time to know them and care about them, and we do care, very powerful.

It’s one of my common guilty pleasures, and I interrogate I’ll withhold watching it for years to near. Don’t miss it.

This is not a current edition of the movie, the only dissimilarity is the case is a standard DVD case instead of the cardboard snap kind.

Before I had a DVD player, I heard about the release of this genuine film on DVD. I had to have it when I discovered it included a commentary featuring all of the Goonies with the director. I begged and pleaded with my parents to come by a DVD player so I could notice it, and finally, my wish was granted.

How could I be disappointed? The movie is wonderful. It is an adventure narrative and a teen movie mixed into one; it covers the coming of age theme and finding buried savor at the same time. I know what you’re thinking: “Rubies, and emeralds… and diamonds? ” Yes! A group of kids who call themselve “The Goonies” are facing their last days in Astoria, Oregon. Their homes are being taken from them by a rich family who wants to extend their country club over the properties. Mikey (Sean Astin) and Brandon Walsh (Josh Brolin) are brooding in their home when Mouth (Corey Feldman), Chunk (Jeff Cohen), and Data (Ke Huy Quan) descend by. In their boredom, they choose to peer Mikey’s dad’s attic where he keeps all of the rejected museum items. There, they derive a arrangement showing where the kids can obtain pirate One Eyed Willie’s buried savor on the flee. Fueled by boredom and a need for money, the kids station out to secure it. Impress tries to halt the boys, but consents to go along on the adventure when they meet up with Andie (Kerri Green) and Steph (Martha Plimpton) . However, they hasten into danger when they win that the residence where the like is buried is also the hideout of the Fratellis, a group of murderous criminals. Filled with ample scenes and sizable lines, (”I smell ice cream,” “That’s my mom’s most celebrated portion,” “I’m setting booty traps!”) you’ll win yourself quoting this film and talking about it with everyone. It appeals to young and obsolete alike.

The extra features are large. Besides the commentary which adds a lot of insight into the hijinx unhurried the scenes, there are both parts of the Cindi Lauper “Goonies R Ample Enough” music video, a short featurette with unhurried the scenes information, and three deleted scenes including the eminent octopus scene. Even the main menu is beautifully done.

I paid significantly more for this DVD than it is being listed for here, and it was worth what I paid for it and more. Why not grasp advantage of a grand movie with gigantic extras for a spacious tag? You’d be lifeless if you didn’t!

This is probably not going to surprise anyone– This is simply an wonderful DVD, in every scale. The first disc contains the movie itself, which is transferred from its fresh, digital source. The relate quality is astounding. Not one situation comes up during the movie, not one scratch appears– because this wasn’t transferred from film. This is the method A Bug’s Life should be watched. The colors are astonishing, vivid and difference eachother perfectly. The sound is also unbelievable– this movie challanged my 1.5 surround system perfectly. Unlike some other movies I’ve seen, where the two rear speakers are only outmoded about twice in the movie, A Bug’s Life uses them almost constantly– You can hear the crickets and cicadas all around you in many of the scenes, Hopper’s gang are flying at you from behind; Even with a simple scene like the “Royal Huddle” the ant’s footsteps are coming from around you. The first disc contains a Cinemascope widescreen version and a pan-and-scan version. I’ll have to say that if you don’t have a widescreen TV (I don’t), you probably should forget about the widescreen version here as it is aspecially shrimp. Besides, the PSP version was edited digitally in a very special method, even described on this DVD– you hardly miss anything in the PSP version because of that special editing. If anything, you actually come by to notice more detail. Also on the first disc are two special audio choices, Music Only (cold) and SFX only (VERY frigid), and a director’s commentary (quite frigid, although not the best I’ve heard. John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich seem to talk too remarkable about the epic, which sometimes makes it sound as if they’re impartial describing what you already examine on veil.)

(I’m not going to give review to the movie itself here– In short, it is definitly a 5 star movie!)

The second disk is where the valid fun begins. I’ve never seen so many extras, with so many choices to settle from. It’s almost confusing– You not only catch to gaze how they made the movie, you obtain to literally examine how they developed EACH AND EVERY character in this film. It’s amazing. You can also hear how they edited the sound, explore how they made the PSP version so worthy, perceive how they made the outtakes at the kill (and also glimpse the outtakes by themselves, dapper, pudgy cover and with no credits to interrupt), spy an interview with the characters themselves (which is simply hilarious), and… Gawk Geri’s Game in all its glory. And there’s even more.

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Bug’s Life! Click Here

Basically, if you don’t have this DVD, you WILL pick it. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a DVD?

A BUG’S LIFE is truly a movie that the entire family can indulge in. It is adorable, laughable, and it has a message that everybody can report to.

The DVD is astounding, unbelievable, fantastic! The transfer (the first ever completely digital transfer), is simply fabulous. It is like you can near into the cover and touch the characters. The cinemascope animation is truly comely, and the transfer expresses it beautifully. The sound is astonishing. You feel like you’re in the bugs’ world.

This DVD has the most incredible spot of extras I have ever seen. It takes you through the entire process of making A BUG’S LIFE…I’ve gone through “preproduction” and the first half of “production” and it took me an hour and a half…I quiet have three sections left! What is more fantastic is that every extra is intelligent! Truly an outstanding, clear to be groundbreaking disc. Disney, why can’t all of your DVDs be like this!

My son was diagnosed with Pervasive Development Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified when he was 3. PDD-NOS is on the Autism spectrum, and children with this diagnosis often have developmental delays.

My son had a speech delay and other developmental delays. His speech is enormous now…no one can detect that he has this diagnosis. However, the delays have, understandably, affected his learning in some areas.

While his spatial skills have been diagram above average–as has his acquire of science (such as planets and their attributes) –he has resisted reading. He gets tired and frustrated.

Well, trying many approaches for helping him, I concept I’d purchase a chance and earn the Talking Words Factory from Amazon.com, especially since the reviews were so marvelous.

I am very, very gay with this DVD! My son watches it quite often, and he’s now reading books on his hold. I can discover a marked inequity in a matter of WEEKS. Before, he had to judge about how some of the letters sounded. Now, he rattles them off like a pro–as well as 3-letter words!

This DVD also teaches about vowels and consonants, so he’s learning how the vowels are sticky like glue, holding words together (thanks to Professor Quigley’s Sticky-Ick-O-Rama machine!) . The Word Whammer machine shows children how to establish the consonants and vowels together, and how they sound. I like the fact that they’ll switch around the vowels with the same beginning and ending consonants, to highlight how a vowel sounds within a word.

Talking Words Factory also teaches rhyming, which is a bonus.

Highly recommended!

I have never felt strong enough to actually hold the time to write a review. I am a certified k-6 teacher who has told everyone I know about Leap Frog’s 4 unbelievable movie and now I am telling you…

LF Letter Factory: This was the first (out of 4) Leap Frog Movie that my children watched. My 3 1/2 year obsolete and 2 years 2 month ancient boys are allowed to discover 1 movie a day. Each Day they agreed, in excitement, to watched this movie. Under a week my 3 1/2 year broken-down knew his letter sounds. He could boom the letter sound song almost as speedy as he could mumble the alphabet. After a week, he amazed us when he sat down on the ground and wrote out the entire alphabet like a 4th grader. Had NO notion he could write like this! Shortly thereafter, the 2 year customary knew all his letter sounds and letter recognition.

Talking Words Factory: I was so impressed that I bought them the Talking Words Factory that 2nd week. I wasn’t surprised that my 3 1/2 year ancient began to spell, writing, and sounding out 3 letter words. He told me all about how the vowels were all sticky and their job was to stick letters together to create words. He went around singing the vowel song.

My kids loved the videos so considerable that for 10 months…My son’s (who passe to play with Thomas the Trains and puppies) were obsessed with letters and words. They made their gain letter and word factory machines out of their toys and tubs, drew each letter cartoon character, and sang the letter and vowel songs, and the older one wrote, yes wrote, many of his bear homemade books.

Talking Word Factory 2: It doesn’t halt there…They got the Talking Word Factory 2 and Math Circus when they came out this Christmas. In a couple of days, the now 4 year mature, was telling me all about sh, ch, th, and other blends. He told me how the restful e at the waste of the word made the other vowel say its name (long vowel sound) . He went on to recount me also how “when 2 vowels go walking the first one does the talking.” And he wrote and read unusual complex words such as, boat, home, dime, wait, etc. This really increased his ability to read many, many unique words – 8 letter words too!

Math Circus: They loved it too! Though it is expeditiously inviting for beginners, it is curious and has an easy conception. Adding and subtracting now comes glowing easy for my 4 year conventional. I gave him a math work sheet for addition and subtraction objective for kicks. Wouldn’t you know it, he did all of them with no predicament. He was so involved in adding that he started asking about problems such as 3 + 3 + 3. Which helped him learn the notion of multiplication 3 x 3, 3 x 4, etc. But, we told him that he had plenty of time to learn that later!

The only negative comments that I have to say about these Leap Frog videos: Nothing, Oh, except that I wish my children weren’t so obsessed with letters! They eat, breath, and sleep letters. Sometimes I fair wish they would play with the trains, cars, and other toys. They will have their entire school life to learn about letters and reading! I impartial hope that when the time comes for school that they won’t have grown board of it!

Other Leap Frog learning tools that reinforce what they learned on the videos:

LF Fridge Phonics Magnets – Fancy it. It sings each letters song when you effect the letter in the hole.

LF Word Whammer Fridge Phonics Position – LF objective came out with this. I know that they will esteem. I bought it for the next birthday! It is like the Fridge Phonics, but you can spell 3 letter words.

LF Letter Factory Board Game – Admire it too! It is interactive and the board game talks and sings!

LF Swear Along Letters Flash Cards & CD – Songs from the DVDs. Not that you don’t hear the songs sang enough from your children!

Wish they would obtain computer CD’s too!

LF Leap Pad – Fun but they got board with the same books over & over. $14 a book!

There are many others, but I had to way the line somewhere!

If you check all the other reviews, I am not alone. Only two out of 121 people gave this movie less than 5 stars! It is about time someone made a movie that parents and children both agree on! Thank you Leap Frog!
